The studio approaches portraiture the same way it approaches documentary work — patient, observational, more interested in what's actually true about a person than what would flatter them on paper. The result is a portrait that reads as a photograph of them, not of an idea of them.
What a sitting looks like
Two hours, in the studio or on location. No mood boards, no bank of pre-planned poses. The sitting begins with a conversation and moves outward from there. Natural light where possible, quiet direction, a small kit that doesn't take over the room. Fifteen to twenty-five finished frames delivered within two weeks, colour and black and white where appropriate, both in web and print resolutions.
Who this is for
Individuals refreshing the picture that everyone else in their life uses to introduce them. Founders and creative directors who want a photograph that reads as them, not as a job title. How the studio works.
Wilton Place Studios is a small London-based documentary practice. Portraits, weddings, editorial commissions, and film. The work draws on a long background in filmmaking and shares a consistent approach across every commission: patient, observational, and honest.
Every commission runs through a single point of contact and a single working file. No hand-offs, no template galleries, no arranged pictures pretending to be found ones.
